Dr Barbara Spahn
FMH specialist in ophthalmology and eye surgery
Dr Barbara Spahn is an FMH specialist in ophthalmology and ophthalmic surgery, with particular expertise in oculoplastic, orbital and reconstructive surgery.
She studied medicine at the University of Lausanne, earning her federal medical degree in 1990. She first built a solid surgical foundation (general and orthopaedic surgery at Saint-Loup Hospital, then anaesthesiology at the CHUV) before devoting herself to ophthalmology at the Jules-Gonin Eye Hospital in Lausanne. She completed her training in oculoplastic, orbital and reconstructive surgery in Paris, at the Adolphe de Rothschild Foundation, in the department of Dr S. Morax.
A chief resident at the Jules-Gonin Eye Hospital from 1999 to 2001, then associate physician, she was in charge of the oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery clinic as well as the specialist clinic for ocular prostheses and anophthalmic sockets. She also took part in continuing education and in organising courses and congresses at the university ophthalmology clinic in Lausanne.
Since 2003, Dr Spahn has practised at the Grand-Pont Ophtalmologie practice in Lausanne. She brings her long surgical experience to attentive, personalised care for each patient.
